What is Herpes Simple Keratitis?

Ocular
 herpes
 is
 usually
 caused
 by 
the 
same 
virus 
responsible 
for 
cold 
sores
 on
 the 
lip, 
herpes 
simplex
 virus
 type 
I. 
Herpes
 simplex 
virus 
(HSV)typically
 affects 
only
 one
 eye 
and 
is 
not 
a 
sexually
 transmitted disease. 
It 
is 
spread 
by 
contact
 with 
people 
who 
have 
the 
virus. 
Around 
50,000
 people
 develop 
ocular
 herpes 
in 
the 
United 
States 
each 
year.
