What is Cat-Scratch Disease?
Cat‐Scratch Disease (CSD) is a disease caused by a bacterium called Bartollena henselae. Although this bacterium can be found all over the world,it is mainly found in South America. B. henselae are found in cattle, dogs, and coyotes, but kittens and cats are the common carrier. Nearly 50% of domestic cats carry B. henselae, however it is difficult to spot which cats are infected because the diseased cats have no symptoms and do not look sick.
